Strange food is always fun. Here is one we like and one we don't!
Spaghetti Eis is popular around here. Eis is Ice Cream, by the way. Spaghetti Eis is made with a special machine that you scoop some Eis into and it extrudes it through small holes to make, well, Spaghetti Eis. Then it's usually topped with strawberry goo. I told Sandie it was marinera sauce, but she didn't believe me.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Blutwurst. That's blood sausage to you and me. It's made with pig blood and fat. Here's Sandie and I trying it at a wine fest we went to with a couple friends. She looks more excited about it than I do.
The wine fest was pretty cool. Every small village has their annual wine fest. There are so many small villages around that there is a wine fest going on somewhere through the summer. At this wine fest we bumped into a local German guy who wanted us to try some of the "delicious" fest food. So he got us all to try Blutwurst (blood sausage), Leberwurst (liverwurst), and Schweinmett (fresh ground RAW pork). Yes, mom, we ate raw pork off the top of a barrel in the middle of the street!
The wine fest started as a very lazy, calm get-together of the townspeople. Before we knew it, it was dark and the steets were packed! This village only has a population of 3500 people! Where did they all come from?!?
