Now that the apartment is chosen, the lease is signed, the move-in date is scheduled, it's really nice to relax and check out the town. Here's some miscellaneous stuff:
Check out this steamy volcano of mineral deposits. The "bad" in "Wiesbaden" means "bath" and apparently forever ago when the Romans hung out here they really liked the natural minerally hot springs. Well if there are any Romans out there, let it be known that the springs are still hot and minerally.
The Kurhaus in Wiesbaden. Perhaps once a sort of hospital, now it's a venue for fancy balls, fancy dress, and symphonic concerts. It's kind of an icon of downtown.
Wiesbaden has a lot of international restaurants. For instance, Indian. This fancy place closed not long after we got here though.
Lucy? No...Not Lucy. That's an
Indian Ringnecked Parakeet in our front yard. They're not native, but they like it here. We've spotted them living in holes in trees. They also like these berries on the trees outside our apartment.
German Goose? No...
Egyptian Goose. Egyptian Geese are another non-native feral species of bird that like it here. Enjoy, geese. I like it, too.
Here are some more Egyptian Geese in the park. The photobomber is Ella, the daughter of Aaron and Christina, two good friends of ours out here.
