Actually, Cheddar was made in Mexico, but he thinks he's German.This morning we sat through a 2-hour crash course on German driving laws and took our drivers test. Amazingly we passed. Ok, amazingly Drew passed. Next stop is to pick up Cheddar!
We shipped Cheddar nice and early, and then delayed 2 weeks. So, Cheddar had been waiting in Germany for over a week. People tell horror stories about cars getting beat up in shipment, but luckily Cheddar was unscathed.
Unfortunately Cheddar's window tint is not permitted in Germany so we had to peel it off. The original (high quality) tint came right off and left little goo behind. The drivers side had been retinted when the dealer scratched it up while doing some unrelated repair once. That side was nearly impossible to peel off and left sticky goo everywhere. But, sticky goo was acceptable and we were able to get Cheddar registered and the plates on!
The next stop is to get sticky goo remover. In Germany you don't go to Home Depot, you go to Hornbach! Drew's feeling at home already!
Unfortunately, all the labels are in German at Hornbach. We could have bought a liter of something voltile and tried it, but we decided to use our lifeline and go to the local commissary to get some goo remover. We were a little disappointed in ourselves for not working through this one, but we're sure there will plenty more challenges ahead to enjoy.
